Risograph Print

Risograph printing is a way to print multiple copies quickly using one ink layer at a time. By creating separate color layers, a single layer in the chosen color will print. After letting that try, you place the paper back into the machine, switch out the colored ink cartridge, and the second layer will be printed overtop, and so on.
I designed this piece specifically for the risograph, making the shapes and layout complex and interesting while expecting a small color palette. The title of the lecture grabs the reader's initial attention, while the small elements, like the speakers, time, and place, require a closer look. The large, graphic letters contrast with the detailed dotted background. A pop of yellow brightens the page and helps break up the largely blue background. Printed on a white sheet of paper, the white letters and dots are created as empty space.
I wanted the design to be fun and colorful, taking advantage of the risograph materials. Layering colors is a unique experience with this printing method, so the yellow layered over the blue was a perfect way to play with this technique. The orientation brings the eye down the page, finding the multiple textual elements nicely positioned inside the larger letters.
