A poster promoting a lecture given by Nicole Killian, a professor in the VCUarts Graphic Design department. The lecture was given online at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Tending to the Garden was a lecture given by Nicole Killian about taking care of yourself as a designer. Nicole talks about letting yourself rest, listening to your body, and leaning into your intuition and emotions.

I wanted this poster to be playful and calming, with a cool color palette and fun illustrative elements. The drips of water create a repetitive loop, strengthening the calming effect of viewing the poster.  With the "garden" text being so decorative and symbolic, I wanted the rest of the text to be simple and readable. The multiple font choices within the typeface allow for a clear hierarchy of type. A simple, yet intriguing design, I represented the act of taking care of one's "garden", or self, in this peaceful moving poster.
